Tooth discoloration may result from drinking coffee, black tea, red wine, smoking or even from aging process. Before proceeding to the teeth whitening, the dentist will examine your teeth and gums and will talk with you about daily oral hygiene habits. 

The dentists of our clinic very often recommend our patients to do teeth whitening if they are planning other cosmetic dental procedures, such as veneers or crowns, in order to ensure a better esthetic result. Depending on the condition of your teeth and your goals for changing the look of your smile, teeth whitening may not be the only option for you. During the consultation and evaluation you will be informed about other ways to improve your smile, like veneers and crowns.

As with all the whitening products, Zoom whitening is not recommended for children under 13 years old, or for pregnant or lactating women. Also, it is important to remember that whitening treatment may not be as effective for some people as it is for others.  

The whitening procedure takes about an hour, and a regular teeth cleaning is recommended prior to the actual Zoom teeth whitening session. After gum isolation the dentist applies the Zoom whitening gel, which works together with the Zoom LED light to penetrate the teeth and break up the stains and discoloration. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes while the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch TV or listen to music. 

The gel is applied for four 15-minute sessions with LED light activation, for a total treatment time of 60 minutes.

At the end of the procedure in order to maintain the whitening effect the dentist will advise you to avoid certain foods and drinks for a couple of days, and will recommend some dental products for you to use at home.
